9 month old Hispanic male born with congenital Kaposiform hemangioendothelioma of the left face/neck, Kasabach-Merritt phenomenon and reportedly complete left facial paralysis. He is currently on sirolimus and doing well with response in the tumor size. His first visit with me was at 9 months with left flaccid facial paralysis. EMG with no motor response on the left facial nerve stimulation. Concentric needle exam of the left facial muscles showed no activation of motor unit potentials suggesting failure of innervation. I am assuming no usable ipsi facial nerve fibers are present from in utero compression by the tumor so my plan was to wait for staged CFNG gracilis at age 5-6. Thanks for any help.
